Public Relations Ministry The public relations ministry coordinates the church's radio broadcasts, print advertising, and the website. The ministry will soon expand to accommodate a television broadcast in the near future. We currently advertise in the Afro-American Newspaper. In January 2004, we launched our first radio broadcast on Heaven 600 (WCAO-AM), while in February 2004 we launched our website.
Audio/Visual Ministry The Audio/visual ministry provides the church with technical support for all events that require sound reinforcement. These events include, but are not limited to rehearsals, all worship services, concerts, remote events that require setup and operation of sound systems. The Audio/Visual ministry also handles the operation and maintenance of video and audio equipment.
Buds of Promise The Buds of Promise Juvenile Missionary Society is for children ages 1-12. The purpose of this ministry is to create and develop in children an interest in missions through juvenile Christian culture. It also stimulates the spirit of giving of themselves and their possessions for the good of others. This year John Wesley's Buds plan to participate in street witnessing, visit nursing homes, and donate supplies to African children. Minister Allison Richards is the Superintendent for the the Buds of Promise which meets once a month for a bible study lesson on the children's level of understanding. If you are interested in having your child participate, contact Min. Allison Lightner at (443) 200-5065

Deaconess The purpose of the Deaconesses is to prepare elements for Holy Communion; to assist and prepare candidates for baptism; to go about doing good; to encourage, foster and improve the general interest of the church; to promote the comfort and solicit the friendship and sympathy of the general church; to minister to the wants and suffering, sorrowing sin-laden world; to minister to the poor; visit the sick; pray with the dying; care for the orphans, seek the wandering, comfort the sorrowing, save the sinning, and ever be ready to take up any duty for which willing hands cannot otherwise be found. Deaconesses are appointed by the Pastor, confirmed by the Quarterly Conference, consecrated and set apart for special service.
| Children's Church The Christian Education Department seeks to inform the Church in all phases of Church School work. Our work encompasses giving direction to the study of the Bible and developing vital Christian living and effective church membership. Children's Church was developed to give children from ages 2-12 a bible lesson during worship service. A Children's Church teacher will escort your child to our multi-purpose room before the Pastor's sermon. The children will learn a lesson based on the scripture of the Pastor's sermon. Then, the children as a group will present to the congregation what they have learned. We welcome you and your family to visit John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church. Children's Church Teachers: Sis. | Prison Ministry John Wesley's Prison Ministry is partnered with Powerhouse Restoration Ministries. Every 2nd Sunday of the month, the prison ministry visits the Women's Detention Center on Eager Street in Baltimore City and does a worship service with the female inmates. The purpose of this ministry is to encourage female inmates while incarcerated and help those who will be transitioning back to society with the hopes of starting a totally new life with Christ Jesus. The ministry corresponds with the inmates through letters of encouragement. If you are interested in joining the ministry, please contact Rev. Gwanda Wallace at (410) 566-1166 |
Men's Ministry The Men's Fellowship meets the last Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm on John Wesley's lower level. The Men's Fellowship is headed by Brother Charles Williams. Men are able to study the Word of God while developing close friendships with other Christian men. The men's fellowship is dedicated to holding each brother accountable for his actions and encourage his growth in the Lord. Our theme is based on Psalm 133:1 and Proverbs 27:17 and I Thessalonians 5:11. Always remember: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:1
Women's Ministry Women's ministry meets the last Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm for an interactive bible study. Currently, we are studying the Bad Girls of the Bible. Our purpose is to encourage one another to be transformed by the renewing of our minds according to Romans 12:1-2 and promote fellowship among sisters in Jesus Christ.
